I created dolor as a Junior dance major at Kent State University to premier in the 2023 B.F.A. Student Dance Concert / Student Dance Festival “REDEFINING”.

The piece is meant to represent several different personal themes: anguish, exhaustion, community. The term “dolor” translates directly to great sorrow and distress. Within the work, each dancer is experiencing their own version of this world. Despite living through different experiences, they are able to come together as a community and support each other through tumultuous times.
